Somatic Living is a community dedicated to the exploration and practice of embodiment. At its core, embodiment is the ability to feel into our bodies with our minds eye to consciously unlock the wisdom that is held there. This wisdom becomes the guide for our life.

When you join our membership you begin the path to embodiment. We start by addressing our body’s basic needs with the foundational, Body, Breath and Mind series. We also offer weekly live classes, and new monthly practices so you can begin to develop your own direct experience of embodiment.

Holistic Healing Starts with the Body

Stress is a complex phenomenon that affects us both mentally and physically. It can be broadly categorized into positive and negative stress. Positive stress, also known as eustress, is the kind that motivates and energizes us, such as preparing for a new challenge or achieving a goal. It tends to be short-term and can improve performance and productivity. On the other hand, negative stress, or distress, results from prolonged or overwhelming pressures that exceed our coping abilities. It can lead to burnout, anxiety, and physical health issues. Understanding this distinction is the first step in managing stress effectively.

    The Body, Breath, and Mind Series

      Our Body, Breath and Mind series of foundational movements, breathwork and meditation is the place to start learning how to care for your beautiful human body. The body series works to open and strengthen the postural muscles of the body and teaches movements that systematically open the body from toes to top of the head and all the way through the layers of tissue, the organs and nervous system. The breath series teaches us how we can communicate with our bodies through conscious breathing. The mind series teaches us to use our minds to explore the space of our bodies and what is held there. These techniques will empower you to make the best choices for yourself.

      Foundations

      The Body series rotates through 4 sequences designed to progressively open up each area of the body, starting with legs, moving on to hips and pelvis, going up through the torso and finishing with the shoulders, neck and head. The foundational series targets the postural muscles of the body, the muscles that keep the body upright, stacked and moving with ease through space. When we focus on strengthening within these often smaller muscle groups we ensure the overall communication of the body’s

      Structured Four-Month Cycle

      The Somatic Living Monthly Sequence introduces a structured, four-month cycle, focusing on opening the tissue of the body from front, back, side and central strength line.

      Through this method we address the entire body systematically and allow time for the wisdom to integrate and become our own before we move on to the next section of the body. Starting anytime and joining the 4 month cycle, is one of the most effective ways to open the body and free the mind.

      Breathwork

      Breathwork is the opportunity for us to go beyond our normal range of breath and begin to learn how the lungs, ribcage and diaphragm work together with the body’s systems in order to exercise deeper breath and it’s subsequent effects on body health, mood and

      Meditation

      Meditation is a basic starting point for anyone who wants to grow by focusing on their body and mind. This special way of meditating is easy because it uses paying attention to your body’s parts and how they work as clues to help you get better at meditating. There are 18 steps in this method. It starts with making sure you’re comfortable, then it slowly helps you pay more attention to your body, and ends with you reaching a peaceful yet powerful quietness
